NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A fugitive wanted in a fatal 2009 crash on a New Jersey parkway was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy International Airport, authorities announced Monday.
Chaudhry Yousaf, 52, was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force on Dec.24, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Yousaf, of Valley Stream, was extradited to New Jersey on Dec. 27, and is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
According to officials, on March 28, 2009, the New Jersey State Police responded to the area of milepost 77 on the Garden State Parkway for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
An investigation revealed that a black Lincoln Town Car – driven by Yousaf and containing two passengers, Harris Kahn, 26, and Kishwa Jahan, 32, was traveling southbound on the Garden State Parkway when Yousaf lost control of the vehicle. He struck a roadway sign and continued into the wooded area, striking a tree and finally coming to rest.
