Three governor-endorsed gun bills make it to first committee in the Roundhouse

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) –  A slew of governor-endorsed gun bills are beginning to hit committees in the Roundhouse. Thursday afternoon, three of those contentious gun reform bills were heard in the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee.

On the table Thursday: the 14-day waiting period , raising the minimum age to buy guns , and banning certain firearms .

“We have a mandate from New Mexicans to create the safest communities in the country. In which case, these firearms are creating unsafe situations for so many people,” says Representative Andre Romero (D-Santa Fe). Romero is leading the charge on two of these gun bills.
