Xcel Energy reminds customers of winter energy assistance, pay arrangements

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Xcel Energy said it wanted to remind its customers about options for those who may fall behind on their payments through “energy assistance and establish pay arrangments.

Xcel said the cold weather can potentially lead to a higher energy bill. Customers who are concerned they may fall behind on payments are encouraged by Xcel to apply for energy assistance or make payment arrangements.

“Xcel Energy’s Texas and New Mexico customers have benefitted from reliable electric service as a string of winter weather events in recent weeks gripped the region in arctic cold,” said Adrian J. Rodriguez, president of Xcel Energy New Mexico, Texas. “But higher use of electricity to stay warm can drive up winter bills, and we want to remind our customers to contact us if they need assistance.”

Xcel said its automated phone system offers a pay arrangement option for its customers. The plans vary according to individual circumstances but vary from three to six months. Customers who want to discuss pay options can call 800-895-4999 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to talk with an Xcel Energy Contact Center agent.
