Bill banning guns near polling sites clears state Senate

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A bill to ban guns from voting sites has cleared the state Senate by a 26-16 vote. SB 5 would make it a crime to possess a gun within 100 feet of a polling place or 50 feet of a drop box.

Proposed bills would block state from buying land for conservation efforts

As a petty misdemeanor, the maximum sentence would be six months in jail, a $500 fine, or both. Law enforcement would be exempt. The bill now heads to the House.
