Heavy mountain snow and rain moves into New Mexico Friday

A winter storm will move into New Mexico by Friday morning. Widespread snow and rain will fall into the weekend. One more warm day today across New Mexico with highs climbing into the 50s, 60s an 70s. Albuquerque once again climbed into the 60s Thursday afternoon. Spotty showers are beginning to develop this afternoon across northwestern New Mexico, but these will taper off later tonight. Heavier rain and mountain snow will move into western New Mexico early Friday morning, moving into the Rio Grande Valley by the Friday morning commute. These scattered rain showers will move into eastern New Mexico by the late morning. Rain and mountain snow showers will continue through much of the day Friday as a cold front sweeps across the state. West winds will gust to over 30 mph at times. As temperatures cool Friday night, snow levels will drop to as low as 5,000′ by Saturday morning, and this will bring more areas a chance for light snow.
