New Mexico State Police to conduct sobriety checkpoints in February

LUBBOCK, Texas — New Mexico State Police will conduct sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and driver’s license checkpoints throughout February in all New Mexico counties, a press release said.

The checkpoints are to bring awareness and reduce impaired driving-related fatalities. The checkpoints are helping to change society’s attitude about driving while under the influence of liquor or drugs.

NMSP said hundreds of lives could be saved each year if every driver could decide to not drive impaired.
