Bill would allow retired police officers to join another agency without losing their pension

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A return to work bill for police officers is now headed to the state House. Senate Bill 87 allows retired public safety officers to get another job with an agency without losing their pension. The retiree must be in their new position by July 1, 2027.

Lawmakers consider bill to make sure planned capital outlay projects become a reality

It also applies to prison and jail officers as well as probation and parole officers. Supporters say the bill will help departments struggling to fill their ranks.
