Blizzard Conditions Possible Across Parts of New Mexico & Colorado

A Blizzard Warning is in Effect for Northeast New Mexico

11/07/24 4:49pm EST

Godo late afternoon everyone. We continue to watch heavy snow taking place across parts of New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas. Ahead of this powerful low pressure system, we are also watching heavy showers & thunderstorms developing in the Texas panhandle, northeast Texas, and western Oklahoma east of the panhandle.

As low pressure deepens, we are watching winds pick up throughout the higher elevations in northeast New Mexico and southeast Colorado. Combined with heavy snow, low visibilities, and very cold wind chills, concerns are growing for blizzard conditions in these areas.

In response to this, the National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for areas of New Mexico until 8pm MST. While we don’t have any blizzard warnings posted for Colorado, brief blizzard or near blizzard conditions may still occur in the higher elevations and mountain passes.

As we go into the overnight hours and tomorrow, the risk for severe weather will also increase across parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Look for the possibility of damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk of a few tornadoes.
