Rain has already begun across Southern New Mexico this evening. The rain will intensity through the evening.
The first low pressure system of the week has made its way to the Baja this evening. Tomorrow and Monday the low will track towards New Mexico before settling over southeastern New Mexico.
Ahead of the low, moisture will be drawn into the state. The result of this is the showers we have already seen popping up around southeast New Mexico. Overnight the rain could even reach as far north as the Albuquerque Metro.
Eastern and southern New Mexico will see the most intense rainfall on Sunday and Monday. Southern New Mexico will see the bulk of that rainfall Sunday morning and afternoon. Eastern New Mexico will see the majority of the rainfall Sunday evening and early Monday morning. The timing and location of the heavy rainfall depends on the track the low pressure system will take in and out of New Mexico.
Along with the heavy rainfall, snow is expected in the mountains and higher elevations. Upwards of 8″ of snow is expected in the mountains above 9000′. Due to this anticipated snowfall, a winter weather advisory has been issued. This advisory is in place for portions of the Sacramento Mountains and Gila National Forest. The advisory will expire at 8 a.m. Monday November 18th.
