During a recent weekly press briefing, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) criticized his Republican colleagues for what he termed “performative politics” and “political stunts” while crucial national issues remain unaddressed.
Jeffries expressed frustration with the priorities of the GOP, stating, “There are a whole host of issues that we could be working on together — the economy, affordable housing, public safety, national security, the challenges at the border. Yet, extreme MAGA Republicans have chosen to spend the week focused on Secretary Mayorkas and Taylor Swift. That’s their agenda; it’s performative politics.”
The New York Congressman specifically targeted Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a prominent “ringleader” among Republicans, for her role in introducing what Jeffries deemed “another frivolous censure resolution.”
According to Jeffries, these resolutions are designed to “inflame and castigate” rather than contribute to problem-solving for the American people.
“Don’t we have enough division in America right now? Don’t we have enough challenges that we should be working together to solve?” Jeffries questioned, emphasizing the urgent need for bipartisan collaboration.
