Man accused of aiding suicide in Upstate NY is an ex-doctor, medical aid in dying advocate

Kingston, N.Y. – The man accused of helping a person die by suicide in Upstate New York is a former doctor and an advocate for medical aid in dying. Stephen P. Miller, 85, was previously licensed as a family practice doctor in Arizona, California and Texas, medical license records from the three states show. He gave up his license after he was convicted of evading paying federal income tax in 2006, according to Miller’s voluntary license revocation agreement posted by the Texas Medical Board.
