Troopers honored for saving Capital Region couple from RV fire

CATSKILL, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Two New York State Police Troopers were recognized for saving a local couple and their pets from a vehicle fire last year. Troopers Gregory Langtry and Scott Westfall serve with the NYSP Thruway division.

The VFW Post 770 in Catskill presented them both with a plaque of honor for their bravery.

The couple’s motor home caught fire on the Thruway in December after a mechanical failure. They were trapped inside because the vehicle was parked next to the guardrail.

The troopers and some good Samaritans broke the windows and helped them get out safely. They suffered minor injuries.
