Certain types of fireworks have been legal in New York for years now. Here’s refresher on what’s allowed as the Fourth of July approaches. New York allows ground-based or hand-held devices that produce showers of colored sparks or a colored flame, audible crackling or whistling noises and smoke, according to the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
