Motor vehicle fatalities rose more than 25 percent across New York, between 2019 and 2022. A new report from the state Comptroller’s office also finds that, in 2022, motor vehicle fatalities in New York state were at their highest level in a decade. That’s despite a decline in the number of vehicle miles traveled, licensed drivers, and accidents.
