NC Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson to send cease-and-desist over PAC’s ‘false’ claim of District 6 endorsement

RALEIGH, N.C. (WGHP) — The lieutenant governor of North Carolina’s gubernatorial campaign is offering a statement after his team said that a PAC falsely claimed that he had endorsed a candidate in North Carolina’s 2024 District 6 congressional race.

On Thursday, First Freedoms Foundation posted a video that the PAC falsely claimed shows Greensboro-native Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson endorsing fellow Republican Christian Castelli in the 2024 race for North Carolina’s 6th congressional district.

“Exciting endorsement alert! North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor, Mark Robinson, throws his full support behind Christian Castelli for the United States Congress in NC District 6. Witness leadership and vision unite for a stronger future,” the post on X read.

Robinson’s campaign disputed the alleged endorsement in a post on X attributed to Robinson Communications Director Michael Lonergan , writing the following:

“A Washington, DC Super PAC is circulating a video falsely claiming to announce an endorsement by Lt. Governor Mark Robinson in North Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District Republican primary. This claim is false; the DC super PAC is taking a video from a previous election cycle and wrongly presenting it as an endorsement in this year’s race. Lt. Gov. Robinson has not made an endorsement in that race. We are in the process of sending a cease-and-desist letter and are exploring all legal options.”
