A sea fog alert is in place for parts of North Carolina coastal regions until Friday night 11pm. Visibility may be reduced to less than 1/4 mile in some locations. Use caution, reduce speed and use low beam lights while driving.
The NWS has issued the following alert:

PATCHY DENSE SEA FOG WILL IMPACT COASTAL COMMUNITIES THIS EVENING…
Areas of sea fog continue across coastal Onslow and Carteret Counties south of Cape Lookout this evening.
This fog, which could bring visibilities locally to 1/4 mile or less at times, is expected to continue to expand inland through the rest of the night and persist through Friday along the coast.
Travel along coastal roads such as NC 210 on Topsail Island, NC 58 on Bogue Banks, Highway 24, and Highway 70 could be impacted at times. Motorists should be prepared for abrupt visibility reductions, reduce speeds and use low beam headlights.
