According to a new report published by Coastal Review, a small fishing company in NC that morphed into an international operation is closing its doors on March 29. According to the report, Wanchese Fish Company, located in Roanoke Island, is closing its doors for good after 88 years in business.
The company was purchased by Cooke Seafood USA in 2015, however, the Wanchese Company “maintained its family-owned operation after the sale”, according to the report.
While the production fish offloading and packing operations part of the company is shuttering, the marine and fishing equipment retail store will remain open. The company thanked its employees for their service and said they would provide them with a transition package.
