Robinson holds rally in Wilkesboro days after bombshell report

WILKESBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — The Republican nominee for the North Carolina governor’s race and the current lieutenant governor Mark Robinson arrived just after 9 a.m. to address about 60 of his supporters outside a bakery in Wilkesboro on Monday.

Robinson accepted a gift from a supporter and then addressed allegations head-on.

“I’m going to start off by ignoring all of their salacious lies. We’re not going to talk about that. What I’m going to do is I’m going to talk about you,” Robinson said.

Again, Robinson called the allegations a lie. That’s what he’s been saying since a CNN article was published.

“They want to talk about what possibly happened 15 years ago. Let’s talk about right now,” he said.

However, he said he’s looking into any legal recourse.

“We’re in talks right now. Everything is up to legal counsel to take CNN … We are going to go after what they’ve done., but we have five weeks left of this race. Folks, make no mistake about it, we are not going to let CNN throw us off of our mission,” Robinson said.
