North Alabama sends aerospace aid to North Carolina

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Alabama became more involved in the storm relief efforts across the Southeast, with one Muscle Shoals company flying three crew members on its helicopter to North Carolina.

The Shoals Aerospace crew members are distributing life-saving water supplies and medications to citizens trapped by impassable roads. Additionally, they’re airlifting those who need immediate medical care.

Crew member Brett Harlow said that it is nearly impossible to fully understand the devastation without experiencing it firsthand.

“If you could just look at the pictures and you think it’s bad, it’s 10 times worse than what the picture shows,” Harlow said. “It’s decimated. There’s nothing left, it’s going to take a long time for recovery. It looks like a third-world country. It’s honestly almost indescribable.”

The crew expects to return on Thursday but said they will alter their travel plans if there’s more to help with.
