Richmond SPCA waives adoption fees for adult dogs after receiving animals from N.C. after Helene

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is waiving adopting fees for all of its adult dogs as its shelter continues to receive dogs from areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

Richmond SPCA will waive adoption fees for all dogs over the age of six months for qualified adopters until Friday, Oct. 11, after which all adoption fees will be discounted by 25% for the remainder of October .

Richmond SPCA has received over three dozen animals from shelters across North Carolina , which was devastated by Helene during the last week of September. Church congregations and businesses in the Richmond area have also traveled to North Carolina and Florida to help other victims.
