( NewsNation ) — A North Carolina family who lost everything in Hurricane Helene was gifted a new RV as they work to get back on their feet this holiday season.
“I explained it to a friend: What little we did have is gone. So you have to restart,” said Alyssa Money.
When NewsNation first met Money, Cody Burleson and their four children, they were living in a cramped camper after losing their home due to Helene.
But just in time for Christmas, the family now has a lot to be thankful for. After their story first aired on NewsNation, Emergency RV brought the family a much larger home, complete with bunk beds, a full kitchen and a Christmas tree.
RVs used as temporary shelter during winter in North Carolina town
Woody Faircloth and Emergency RV have already delivered 50 RVs in just the last couple of days to Helene victims in North Carolina.
“What’s happening in West North Carolina is just awful,” he said. “There are over 700 families on our waiting list for shelter. Not a single one had flood insurance. But, you know, we put the call out, and angels come running.”
