MORRISTOWN — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Morristown, Tennessee, has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of East Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and southwest North Carolina, with snow, strong winds, and potential wintry precipitation expected in the coming days.
Snow Showers and Winter Weather Advisory
Snow showers are forecast to spread across parts of the region this afternoon behind a cold front. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the mountains of East Tennessee and parts of southwest Virginia through this evening. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for these areas.
Strong Winds and High Wind Warnings
Strong, gusty winds continue this morning in the East Tennessee mountains, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph at times. A High Wind Warning has been issued for portions of the mountains and adjacent foothills, while a Wind Advisory remains in effect for Carter and Johnson counties in Tennessee. Winds are expected to gradually decrease throughout the morning.
