BAZETTA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – With below-freezing temperatures last weekend, many people were just happy to stay home — but not this Ohio woman. She took a swim.
Minnie Wolfe is a treasure at 91 years old, and she spoke to First News about her life.
“Just think positive. When you think positive. It goes your way. If you don’t, then you get swayed and that’s not a good thing,” Wolfe said.
Saturday, Wolfe showed her bravery. She was the first one in Mosquito Lake for the Polar Plunge.
“I prepare myself — I won’t tell you how. But when I step into water, I am not cold. I don’t shiver or anything.” Wolfe said.
It’s a long walk to the other end for the Polar Plunge. Wolfe also makes sure to dip her shoulders in the water to make the plunge complete. She gets help from the Bazetta Fire Department.
“The muck is slippery and they watch that I don’t fall,” she said.
The Polar Plunge is popular every year. Many people participate and put their own spin on it. Wolfe is always thinking about the beneficiary — the Special Olympics.
