Between 1981 and 1990, a string of heinous crimes took place in Ohio, with a suspected serial killer nicknamed “Dr. No” believed to be responsible for at least nine murders, primarily targeting prostitutes near Interstate 71.
The first known victim was “Buckskin Girl,” identified as Marcia King in 2018, found in Miami County in 1981. The killings continued, with victims like Marcia Matthews and Shirley Dean Taylor meeting tragic fates. The killer’s signature emerged – victims found without underwear and shoes.

The investigation spread to other states, connecting similar murders in New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. The elusive “Dr. No” was linked to Samuel Legg III in 2019, but he was deemed too young for most of the crimes.
The victims, including Anne-Marie Patterson and Paula Beverly Davis, faced brutal beatings, strangulation, and often were found miles away from where they disappeared. The nickname “Dr. No” stemmed from a client one victim was supposed to meet.
