Ohioans drank nearly 17 million gallons of liquor last year. What was the most popular?

Drink up, Ohioans, and make it a Tito’s.

The Texas-made vodka was the most popular hard liquor in the state last year, according to the Ohio Department of Commerce, which oversees the state’s liquor agency, OHLQ.

Ohioans paid $128 million for 1.4 million gallons of the clear spirit, “handmade” in Austin.

Overall, Ohioans drank less liquor in 2023 but paid more for it.

Buckeye boozers drank 16.8 million gallons of hard liquor last year, down from 17 million gallons in 2022 and 17.3 million gallons in 2021.

Rising liquor prices meant Ohioans paid more for less. Ohio drinkers spent $1.77 billion on booze last year, up from $1.74 billion in 2022 and $1.73 billion in 2021.

Tito’s Handmade Vodka drowned out the competition. A distant second was Crown Royal Canadian whiskey, with 785,363 gallons consumed. A variety of spirits round out the top 10:
