‘Welcoming’ not a word that can be used for Ohio
I like living in Columbus. I like the feel of the city. But since Ohio is on track to be a Don’t Travel State to the LGBTQ community within the near future, I must ask the question, where does that leave Columbus in the welcoming area ?
Ohio is a red state, and although the city of Columbus itself is blue, state laws apply. Our legislators rush to fall in line with national Republicans, so we will definitely see disenfranchisement of our trans population as we are already seeing lawmakers search for a way around the voters’ will on abortion and marijuana. If Ohio remains on the fascism track, I don’t believe “welcoming” is a word that can be used for Columbus , where the Statehouse is located, or with any place in Ohio.

Eliminating state income tax will mean higher local taxes
OK, let me get this straight. The Republican-controlled Ohio General Assembly is now going to “save the little guy” by eliminating the state income tax over the next few years. Do I have that right? They are intent on bringing new businesses to the state, again over time, and have given me no indication of just what services will not be funded. I assume schools are high on that list, as are SNAP benefits, other social services, and things such as fire and police protections.
