WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – There hasn’t been much of a Winter-feel for the first week plus of February 2024, but a brief spell could alter that early in the week.
A wintry system is forecast to move in and impact the higher terrain regions of Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio.
There is still uncertainty as to how this plays out for us.
Here is what we know
A center of low pressure and associated warm front is parked down into The Southeast.
This will make its way into our region as we head into the evening hours of Monday and into Tuesday morning.
The primary precip type to begin the event will be rain showers as surface temperatures will range in the lower 40s.
As we head into the Tuesday morning timeframe, the details become muddled.
Most weather models keep The Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and Southeastern Ohio within the warm sector, which will keep the precipitation type as rain.
Areas south of I-70 will not have to worry about any changeover to snow.
Areas along and north of I-70 could see a brief transition towards a snow/rain mix as we approach the morning commute timeframe.
