3 face state charges in the latest on the House Bill 6 scandal

Ex-FirstEnergy CEO Chuck Jones, ex-FirstEnergy Senior Vice President of External Affairs Michael Dowling and ex-Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Chairman Sam Randazzo were indicted Friday in the latest development in the House Bill 6 scandal.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced the charges Monday.

All three pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Summit County. Judge Susan Baker Ross kept the $100,000 pre-arraignment bonds, for which they each paid $10,000 for release, and GPS ankle monitoring on the three men.

It’s not yet clear what the new charges mean for the ongoing federal investigation which lead to the convictions of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder and former Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges last year.
