Thousands in NE Ohio without power amid strong winds

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Thousands of residents across Northeast Ohio are left in the dark as strong winds continue to sweep across the region Friday evening.

According to FirstEnergy, as of 11 p.m., more than 9,000 Cuyahoga County residents, more than 5,400 Geauga County residents, more than 2,200 Lake County residents, more than 3,700 Medina County residents, more than 1,500 Portage County residents and more than 1,300 Trumbull County residents are without power.

FirstEnergy says it’s unclear at this time when most customers should have their power restored.

A high wind warning is in effect for several Northeast Ohio counties until midnight tonight. Expect wind gusts up to 60 mph. Most of the region is also under a wind advisory.

The strong winds could bring down trees and tree limbs across the area.
