Will mail be delivered on July 4 in Ohio?

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Why will there be so many empty mailboxes across the country tomorrow, July 4?

On Thursday July 4, the United States Postal Service will be closed in observance of the Fourth of July, a federal holiday since 1870.

On federal holidays, mail is not delivered, and Post Office branches are closed.

Fourth of July travel will be booming, get ready for crowded roads

There are five federal holidays left in the year:

  • Labor Day on Sept. 2
  • Columbus Day on Oct. 14
  • Veterans Day on Nov. 11
  • Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 28
  • Christmas Day on Dec. 25

Residents can expect to receive mail on Friday, July 5.
