Brown pushes for more funding after popularity of PACT Act

Washington D.C. (WTRF) – In 2022, The PACT Act was signed into law, which rapidly expanded benefits offered to veterans exposed to toxic burn pits.

The legislation has proven so popular since then that the VA is running out of money to cover its provisions.

Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown spearheaded the PACT Act, and now he’s trying to secure additional funding before the money runs out in October.

He tells us that in Ohio alone, the PACT Act has benefited 35,000 veterans. He also says this additional funding has plenty of bipartisan support, but Democrats and Republicans need to get to the table to make it happen.

“Any soldier, Marine or sailor exposed to those football-sized field burn pits should get immediate care from the V.A. The days of veterans having to fight their own government because the chemical companies and the Department of Defense lied about Agent Orange, those days are behind us. We’ve got to make sure there are the dollars available that veterans get the treatment that they’ve earned if they get sick from serving our country.”
