Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for portions of Ohio and West Virginia has expired

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of West Virginia and Ohio.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Northwestern Belmont, South Central Carroll, Harrison, and Jefferson Counties in Ohio, and Brooke and Hancock Counties in West Virginia until 4:45 p.m.

At 4:01 a severe thunderstorm was located near Cadiz, moving northeast at 40 mph, with wind gusts up to 60 mph.

Impacted locations include,

Weirton, Steubenville, Cadiz, Wellsburg, Freeport, Toronto, Wintersville, Mingo Junction, Follansbee, Hooverson Heights, Tiltonsville, New Cumberland, Hopedale, Flushing, Smithfield, Scio, Adena, Franklin, Jewett and Dillonvale.

The NWS advises those in the impacted areas to seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds.
