Ohio SSI Recipients to Receive January 2025 Payments in December

CLEVELAND, OH – In Ohio, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive their January 2025 payments early, on December 31, 2024, instead of the usual first of the month payment date.

According to the Social Security Administration, this adjustment occurs because January 1, 2025, falls on a federal holiday, New Year’s Day, which is also a bank holiday.

When the regular payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, the Social Security Administration (SSA) issues the payments on the last business day before the holiday. This ensures that beneficiaries receive their funds on time and without disruption, according to the Social Security Administration.

SSI is a program administered by the SSA to provide financial assistance to individuals who are elderly, blind, or disabled and have limited income and resources.

This early payment will provide recipients with their much-needed funds a day earlier, helping them manage their expenses without waiting through the holiday.

Beneficiaries should see the payment in their bank accounts on December 31, 2024, and if there are any delays beyond this date, the SSA advises waiting three additional mailing days before contacting them for assistance, according to the Social Security Administration.
