Seniors Tech Conference educates hundreds of Ohioans on digital technology

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Franklin County is working to bridge the digital divide with its second annual Seniors Tech Conference.

The conference was held Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and more than 400 people came to learn more digital technology. Attendees learned about everything from online safety and mastering digital apps to understanding artificial intelligence.

The conference was geared toward participants ages 55 and older and included breakout sessions, hands-on labs and opportunities to meet with tech vendors showcasing new technology. Admission was free, although limited, and included a free lunch.

TJ Johnson is the founder of the Senior Tech Conference, and he said he wants seniors to understand technology and its many benefits to help keep them safe and fulfilled.

“These are some of the things that will keep seniors on the information technology highway,” Johnson said.

Participants also got to check out the on-site game room, which offers classic games like Pac-Man all the way up to augmented reality gaming. They even had the opportunity to meet Spot, a four-legged robot that can use stairs, dodge obstacles and offer insight into the future of robotics.
