PHOTOS: Northern lights dance over NE Ohio

(WJW) – Have you seen them? Skywatchers have been captivated by the stunning glow of an aurora, or “ northern lights ,” over Northeast Ohio lately.

As FOX 8’s parent company, Nexstar, reported it’s all thanks to the sun going through an active bout of Solar Cycle 25 , and on Saturday the NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center reported strong geomagnetic storms were likely to occur Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Thankfully, in Northeast Ohio, the skies were clear and paved the way for some spectacular views.

The series of pictures in the slideshow below were captured by Elizabeth Gunderloy in Rocky River.

And, more pictures came into the FOX 8 newsroom from Laurie Colon in Madison.

Viewers have shared more pictures with FOX 8, too. The images below were captured just a few nights ago on Thursday, Sept. 12, and into Friday morning by Amanda Rundle at Sherrod Park in Vermilion.
