Extended rainfall Tuesday morning quenched at least some of the drought across portions of Ohio , and more showers are on the way.
“This was the best rain that we’ve had all summer in that area,” said Rick Garuckas, a meteorologist who works in the Cleveland office of the National Weather Service.
The official gauge at the Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport had collected 1.61 inches of rain by lunchtime Tuesday — a total of 1.76 inches since the first raindrops fell in the region Sunday afternoon.
Other gauges throughout North Central Ohio were a little less full Tuesday afternoon: 1.35 inches in Crestline, 1.35 inches in Marion and 1.58 inches north of Wooster.
Those numbers were collected before the storm was over, as more rain was forecast overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
“If you get lucky, you could see another half of an inch,” Garuckas said. “Some parts of the area from Marion to Mansfield to north of Wooster all could be closing in on two inches of rain by the time we wrap this system up.”
