Ohio minimum wage will increase on Jan. 1

Ohio’s minimum wage will increase from $10.45 per hour to $10.70 per hour starting Jan. 1, 2025.

Tipped employee’s minimum wage will increase from $5.25 per hour to $5.35 per hour, according to the Ohio Department of Commerce.

In 2006, Ohio voters approved a minimum wage increase tied to inflation. The minimum wage applies to businesses with annual gross receipts of more than $394,000 per year.

The minimum wage is $7.25 per hour for employees of smaller businesses and 14- and 15-year-olds.

A recent effort to increase the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour didn’t collect enough signatures to make the fall 2024 ballot. One Fair Wage, which led that campaign, is now aiming for November 2025.
