Ohio community donates to hurricane victims in North Carolina

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) — The devastating effects of Hurricane Helene can still be felt throughout the nation, especially in areas like Asheville, North Carolina.

To better help those in need and contribute to the relief effort, event organizer Rita Carapellottie is hosting a fill-the-truck donation event this weekend.

Community members are encouraged to bring everything from canned food and bottled water to trash bags, first aid kits and soap.

“It’s been incredible, I mean the amount of people that we’ve had come and drop off things, I was just telling you we might need a second truck. Just keep bringing stuff. They are suffering even to get water, if we can get anything there it would be greatly appreciated.”

Participants can also write a message of encouragement to those who are suffering.
