Elyria gas station sells $50K scratch-off winner

ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) — So you’re telling me there’s a chance!

Courtney Saunders of Elyria is celebrating a $50,000 win after playing the Ohio Lottery’s * Billion * scratch-off game.

Saunders, who purchased her ticket at Convenient Supermarket on Lake Avenue in Elyria, was scratching off the numbers when she realized she had matched enough to win big.

“When I started matching up the numbers, I asked my husband to help me because we both play,” she told the Ohio Lottery .

After mandatory state and federal taxes of 28 percent, Saunders will receive approximately $36,000 of her $50,000 prize. She plans to use the money to help with a new house, as well as upcoming holiday expenses.

The * Billion * scratch-off game costs $50 per ticket.

As of November 10, three top prizes remain in the game.
