Oklahoma Burger King Employee Celebrates 50 Years on the Job: ‘I Just Love People’

For being the speediest Burger King worker in all of America that year, Wanda Byrd was given a Jeep

A woman in Oklahoma has worked for Burger King for half a century now, and she still says she loves her job.

Wanda Byrd told KSWO News that working at Burger King was her first job and that she has never wanted to work anywhere else. She said that she wanted to grow with the company and has been a loyal employee for 50 years now.

Byrd currently works at the fast food chain’s location in Lawton, Oklahoma’s Medicine Park, and she’s said to be a favorite of employees and customers alike. A party was recently thrown in her honor for her 50th work anniversary milestone, complete with gifts and balloons.

“I just love people, and they all treat me really nice,” Byrd said, according to KSWO News. “That’s why I get up every morning and come to work, knowing that they are here, and they know my name and everything.”

By all accounts, Byrd is a model employee. She even comes in an hour before her shift to help set up the fast food location. In 2005, Burger King highlighted and awarded her greatness at a company conference in Las Vegas. For being the speediest Burger King worker in all of America that year, Byrd was given a Jeep.
