Stolen bikes uncovered in burglary plot

Rash of bicycle thefts in Oklahoma this year

In February, 2024, thieves made off with over 5K in stolen bikes from the Bike Club of OKC.

Although violent crimes appear to be going down, recent reports indicate that incidents of thefts are up in Oklahoma, as well as nationally, with one source reporting the increase as around 29% in 2023 as compared to the previous year. The source goes on to report:

It’s hard to say exactly what’s behind the surge, but some crime experts suggest that the economic turmoil during the pandemic, coupled with the relative ease of stealing cars or parts for financial gain, increased the attractiveness of car-related crime.

And recently, bike thieves struck again, stealing $20,000 worth of bikes.

According to a report, one of the suspects, Asterik Graessle, and another person broke into a store on August 31 in Oklahoma City and stole four expensive bicycles. The bikes were taken to a wooded area near an apartment complex, and their wheels were removed.
