Aurora Alerts for Thursday and Friday Night

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Currently, there’s a rare severe to extreme geomagnetic storm taking place across the world. This will result in disruptions with communications and satellite systems. It will also result in an amazing display of the northern lights across a large part of north America. That may even dip down into Oklahoma and Texas. After dark, get away from the city lights and look on the northern horizon. It’s best to view it with the camera on your phone. There is a chance it may also appear overhead! That would be extremely rare down our way. In terms of weather, not much has changed! We remain locked in this summer-like weather pattern for a little while longer. Look for highs to remain the 90s Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In fact, upper 90s remain possible with near record highs on Saturday. We’re still targeting a front to drop into the area with some cooler weather starting Monday. Look for highs in the lower to middle 80s. It may turn a lot cooler around the middle of next week and some rain chances may be possible as well.
