Oklahoma family delivering campers to displaced hurricane victims in North Carolina

HYDRO, Okla ( KFOR ) — While many are spending the day unwrapping gifts, one Oklahoma family is gearing up to hit the road to help hurricane victims.

“It’s what the season is really about, it’s what it’s all about, it’s not about us, it’s about them,” said Oleta Walker.

It all started as a plan to deliver one camper to North Carolina to help those displaced from Hurricane Helene, but it turned into something much bigger.

“We had one camper bought and three more came together real quick for us to where we could buy and then everybody from the community and just around the woodwork just trying to help,” said Tim Walker.

The family turned to Facebook to ask for donations, so they can provide more than just the campers.

“Asked for anybody that had any stuff, blankets, sheets, pots, pans, stuff like that to stock it that we would be happy to take it and they showed up everywhere, I opened the door and my porch is full of stuff,” said Walker.
