According to The New York Times , one reason why state schools Superintendent Ryan Walters didn’t spend up to $1.4 million in federal funds was that his office “wouldn’t be funding anything that had to do with L.G.B.T.Q. issues, or with diversity, social-emotional learning or trauma-informed care.” I strongly believe, however, that public schools should be praised for all four of those services.
