Should Oregon end daylight savings?

Is it possible to change the time? Well, an Oregon senator introduced a new daylight savings bill on Tuesday that will keep the time the same all year long for Oregonians. The details are found in a Statesman Journal article by Dianne Lugo on Feb. 6.

The article explains that Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer) introduced the legislation to change time (or more accurately to stop changing time) as a better option than a previous bill that continues to stall in Congress. Apparently, Oregon needs congressional approval for that bill, yet the new bill doesn’t require congressional approval because it wants to make Pacific Standard Time permanent, which doesn’t require that legislative step.

Oregon is not alone in trying to change time, as Washington, Idaho, and California have also introduced similar legislation this year. Senator Thatcher explained, “People are done with the switch.” The article explains that the area in eastern Oregon using Mountain Time would continue to make the switch, making it somewhat confusing for those areas.
