Former Oregon CEO’s truck seized after $120M fraud scheme

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – A truck belonging to a former CEO, who was behind one of the largest fraud schemes in Oregon history, was seized by authorities in an effort to collect outstanding restitution, authorities announced Wednesday.

Jon Harder, the former CEO of Sunwest Management and associated companies, previously admitted to orchestrating a $120 million fraud scheme — pleading guilty to wire fraud and money laundering charges in 2015, officials said.

On Jan. 19, U.S. Marshals seized Harder’s 2023 Ford F-150 from his Canyonville, Ore. home after authorities discovered in July 2023 that he bought the truck for a cash sale price of around $70,000, according to court documents.

The court issued an order on Tuesday authorizing the truck to be sold with proceeds applying to Harder’s outstanding restitution balance.

As CEO of Sunwest Management, Harder controlled a network of companies that bought, constructed, and managed assisted living facilities.
