Oregon Chief Justice warns addiction proposal could strain justice system

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – As Oregon lawmakers consider the future of voter-approved Measure 110, Oregon Chief Justice Meagan Flynn wrote a letter to lawmakers raising concerns that one addiction proposal in the legislature would strain the justice system.

On Feb. 5, the chief justice sent a letter to Sen. Kate Lieber and Rep. Jason Kropf, the co-chairs of the Joint Committee on Addiction and Community Safety Response, after the lawmakers requested feedback from the Oregon Judicial Department on their draft proposal, as first reported by the Oregon Capital Chronicle .

Chief Justice Flynn wrote the letter on behalf of Oregon’s presiding judges, trial court administrators, and court staff.
