Southern Oregon is gearing up for the season’s most powerful storm, set to unleash heavy rain and strong winds from tonight through Wednesday night. A cold front moving east today will be followed by lingering showers, particularly along the coast and Southern Cascades.
The calm will be short-lived as a stronger frontal system arrives Tuesday night, driven by a deepening upper trough from the western Aleutians. Expect wind gusts up to 70 mph on the coast and 60 mph inland, prompting Wind Advisories and High Wind Warnings across affected areas.
Rainfall could reach 2 to 4 inches in coastal mountains, with up to 6 inches possible east of Brookings. Inland regions west of the Cascades will see moderate rain, while high snow levels will keep roads clear of winter hazards. Although major flooding is unlikely due to low river levels, minor flooding and debris-blocked waterways may occur.
