Incumbent Republican Tracy Cramer now trailing in race for Oregon House District 22

Updated results from the Marion County Clerk’s office Friday evening reflected what results Thursday indicated: Rep. Tracy Cramer, R-Gervais, is losing in her bid for reelection.

Cramer won the House District 22 election in 2022 after defeating Anthony Medina by 542 votes. The district, which includes Woodburn, north Salem, Gervais, Brooks and Labish Village, had been represented by a Democrat for the past 18 years before Cramer assumed office.

Labor organizer Lesly Muñoz is challenging Cramer for the seat. Also of Gervais, Muñoz has not held political office before but has worked as a labor organizer for 12 years. She works with the public education employees’ union, Oregon Education Association, which represents teachers and classified personnel.

Cramer was losing by a single vote in unofficial results posted Thursday evening. On Friday, she was losing by 34 votes as of 5 p.m.

Should the margin remain within 39 or 40 votes, an automatic recount will be triggered. The recount would take place after certification and direction from the Oregon secretary of state. A hand recount would likely take a day or two to complete, according to Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess.
