Moderate to Heavy Rain Coming Ashore Across Lower Elevation Areas
11/16/24 1:07pm EST
Good afternoon everyone. We continue to watch our very powerful storm system coming ashore in the Pacific Northwest and impacting parts of Washington, Oregon, and California.
Moderate to heavy rain, as well as strong winds, will create some travel issues across coastal sections of the West Coast from northern California, northward into Washington. Meanwhile, in higher elevations, some of our mountain ranges could see 6-18″+ of snow.
For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Cascade Mountain range in both Washington and Oregon, plus northernmost California until tomorrow morning. Heavy snow is expected to begin over the next few hours if it hasn’t already, while moderate to heavy rains have already begun across parts of the Oregon and Washington coast.
North and central California are also expected to get in on the action rain-wise as our cold front sweeps through. That cold front will be responsible for drawing up low pressure from Mexico into the Southwest, eventually spawning the severe weather risk we’ve been talking about in the Midwest.
